Chiara Cucco picked up the Pride's first conference honor of the season as she was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced this afternoon.
Cucco posted 54 digs (4.91 per set), along with 11 assists and three service aces in the Pride's three matches at the Wake Forest Invitational. The Pride went 2-1 at the tournament with wins over Wake Forest and Navy and a narrow defeat to West Virginia.
She led Hofstra in digs during the week and was second in assists. Cucco tallied match-high digs totals against Navy (19) and West Virginia (24) and improved her dig total in each match.
With her 54 digs this week, Cucco moved into eighth place all-time in digs at Hofstra. She now has 1,393 career digs and moved past Stefanie Rewitz, who tallied 1,361 digs from 1999-2002.
