No. 12 Hofstra Blanks New Hampshire To Continue Unbeaten Streak

Hempstead, NY - Lennon Gill scored for the second time in as many games and Filippo Dadone stopped a season high-tying five shots as No. 12 Hofstra earned a 1-0 victory over visiting New Hampshire Tuesday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The victory was Hofstra's sixth consecutive win and kept the Pride undefeated on the season (6-0-1).

Gill, a freshman from Dublin, Ireland, notched his second goal of the season and first game-winner, at the 30:16 mark of the first half. Thengill Orrason's throw-in from the right sideline went over two defenders to Gill, who dribbled into the box and sent a right-footed shot inside the far post.

From there, the Dadone and the Hofstra defense took over. The Wildcats (2-2-2), which have been to seven consecutive NCAA Championships and advanced to the third round last season, forced the action, especially in the second half. New Hampshire had 16 shots in the final 45 minutes with Dadone stopping the five that made it through to him.

Hofstra will return to action Saturday when it travels to West Long Branch, New Jersey, for a 7 p.m. matchup at CAA rival Monmouth.
