Woznicki's Brace Powers Pride Past Providence

Hempstead, NY - Jacob Woznicki scored a pair of goals and the Hofstra defense limited the Friars to two shots on goal in a 2-0 victory over Providence Thursday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The win was Hofstra's second in a row as the Pride improved to 2-0-1.

Woznicki, a transfer from Stonehill, scored his second goal in as many games at 28:26 of the first half as he headed in a pass from Owen Barnett. Roc Carles, who started the play with a feed to Barnett, was also credited with an assist on the goal. With just over 10 minutes remaining in the second half, Woznicki struck again as he came in on a breakaway. His first shot was blocked by a Providence defender, but he stayed with the play and sent his second shot into the back of the net for his first brace in a Hofstra uniform.

The Pride defense and goalkeeper Filippo Dadone kept the Friars off the board as the senior netminder made a pair of saves. Providence put a lot of pressure on the Pride in the final 45 minutes with 10 of their 13 shots. Lukas Burns made two first-half saves for the Friars.

Hofstra will be back in action Monday at 5:30 p.m. versus Binghamton. Prior to the game, at 4 p.m., Hofstra will host a block party featuring food, games, and music on the roadway adjacent to Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
