Hofstra Picks Up Third Consecutive Win With 3-2 Victory Over Binghamton

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra had three different goal scorers, but Eoin Farrell's penalty kick goal with just over 18 minutes remaining snapped a 2-2 tie as the Pride got past Binghamton, 3-2, Monday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The win was Hofstra's third in a row as the Pride moved to 3-0-1 on the season.

Binghamton (2-2-0) opened the scoring at the 24:36 mark of the first half as Anthony Randazzo found the back of the net off a pass from Carlo Cavalar. Hofstra would respond 2:12 later as Daniele Mastroianni sent a picture-perfect cross from the left side that found the head of Laurie Goddard to knot the score at 1.

The game remained tied until the Pride went ahead on Jacob Woznicki's team-leading fourth goal of the season as he one-timed a cross from Goddard past Bearcats keeper Dylan McDermott. The lead was short-lived as Randazzo notched his second of the game at the 61:04 mark off a Billy Clark pass for a 2-2 tie.

However, Binghamton was called for a yellow card foul in the box at 71:56 and Farrell blasted a shot into the top right corner for his first goal of the season and of his career. The  Hofstra defense thwarted the Bearcats the rest of the way, not allowing a shot over the final 18:04.

McDermott finished with four saves for Binghamton. Hofstra keeper Filippo Dadone did not record a save in the win.

Hofstra returns to action Saturday evening in its Coastal Athletic Association opener at William & Mary. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
