No. 17 Hofstra Hosts Fordham Thursday To Open 2024 Season

| By:
Hempstead, NY - The 17th-ranked Hofstra University men's soccer team, the three-time defending Coastal Athletic Association champions, kick off their 2024 season at home Thursday night against Fordham. Game time at Hofstra Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

The game will stream live on FloFC with live statistics also available. Links for both can be found above or on the men's soccer schedule page of GoHofstra.com.

The Pride is coming off a 14-3-5 campaign in 2023 that saw the team earn the No. 14 seed in the NCAA Championship and advance to the third round. Hofstra returns 12 players from that team including All-America defender Pierce Infuso, who was named Preseason CAA Player of the Year. Fifth-year midfielder Roc Carles, an Honorable Mention Preseason All-CAA pick, also returns along with fellow starters Gabriel Pacheco and Teddy Baker. Eoin Farrell, Jack O'Malley, Justin Byles, and Logan D'Aoust, who each saw action off the bench last season, return in addition to Owen Barnett, who missed 2023 due to injury. A quartet of goalkeepers - Filippo Dadone, Gino Cervoni, Zach Bittner, and Juan Almanza - will vie for the starting nod. Hofstra also has 18 newcomers with many in line for prominent roles.

Fordham is coming off a 6-4-7 season in 2023. The Rams were ranked as high as No. 24 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll last season. Hofstra owns a 12-5-4 record all-time against Fordham. The teams played to a 1-1 draw last season in the Bronx.

Following Thursday night's game, Hofstra will travel to Washington, DC, for a 6 p.m. game at American on Sunday, August 25.
