Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University women's soccer team kicks off the 2024 season Thursday with a 2:30 p.m. matchup at Quinnipiac. The game will be streamed live with live statistics also available. Links for both can be found on the women's soccer schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra, which was picked to finish second in the CAA in the preseason coaches poll, is coming off a 12-5-1 season. The Pride returns eight starters including Preseason All-CAA selections Louise Hayden, Millie Davies, and Dagny Run Petursdottir. Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir is Hofstra's top returning scorer after tallying four goals and four assists last season, while Aimee Hodgson also returns following a four-goal, one-assist campaign in 2023. Mackenzie Sullivan leads a quartet of goalkeepers and is the only one with game experience in a Hofstra uniform. Sullivan started five of six games last season and had a 1.21 goals against average.

Quinnipiac, the two-time defending MAAC champions, was picked to win the league again and is coming off a 13-4-1 season. The Bobcats had three players - Courtney Chochol, Madison Mandleur, and Ella Gagno - receive Preseason All-MAAC accolades. Chochol had nine goals and nine assists last season to lead the conference, while Mandleur finished second in the MAAC with seven assists. Gagno contributed two goals and an assist from her midfield position.

Hofstra is 3-0 all-time versus Quinnipiac. The teams have not met since the 2004 season.

The Pride will have more than a week between games as the Pride returns to action Friday, August 23 against Columbia at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
