Three From Pride Named USILA Scholar All-Americans; Team Earns Academic Award

Hempstead, NY - A trio of Hofstra men's lacrosse student-athletes - Chase Patterson, JT Roselle, and Griffin Turner - were named 2024 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-Americans, it was announced recently by the organization. 

In addition, Hofstra as a team earned a USILA Team Academic Award. 

To earn Scholar All-American accolades, a student-athlete must be a senior academically with a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0. In addition, he must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. 

For a team to be recognized with the Team Academic Award, the squad must have achieved a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0. 

Patterson, who earned his master's degree in marketing this Spring, had a 3.97 GPA. He was named to the All-Coastal Athletic Association Second Team. Patterson was 209-357 (58.5%) on face-offs in 2024, while leading the way with a team-best 126 ground balls and two caused turnovers. He also had eight points on two goals and six assists. 

Roselle, a graduate student majoring in investments, carries a 3.42 GPA. He was selected to play in this year's USILA North-South All-Star Game. Roselle played in all 15 games for the Pride this season and totaled 30 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers and four assists. He led the squad in caused turnovers and ranked third in ground balls. 

Turner graduated this Spring with a degree in finance and a GPA of 3.59. He ranked second on the team this season with 44 points, while leading the way with 28 assists and ranking fifth in goals with 16. Turner also had 22 ground balls (eighth on the team) and four caused turnovers. 

Hofstra was one of only 39 schools at the NCAA Division I level to earn the USILA Team Academic Award.
