Harrington's Three RBIs Back Strong Pitching Performances In Win At UNCW

Wilmington, NC - Steve Harrington homered and drove in three runs to back another strong start from Carlos Martinez as Hofstra evened its Coastal Athletic Association series against UNCW with a 5-2 victory at Brooks Field Saturday night. Martinez (5-4) allowed a run on four hits over 6 ⅔ innings with six strikeouts.

Hofstra moves to 21-29 overall and 11-12 in the CAA with the win. The Seahawks saw a seven-game winning streak snapped and slipped to 34-17 overall and 18-5 in league play.

Harrington gave the Pride a 2-0 lead with a home run in the top of the fourth inning. Tanner Thach cut the Pride's lead in half with a solo shot in the bottom of the inning.

The Pride would add a third run in the top of the sixth as Matt Pelcher singled up the middle to bring in Santino Rosso. Harrington would drive in his third run of the game in the seventh as his sacrifice fly brought home Alex McCoy to make it a 4-1 game. Luke Masiuk capped the Hofstra scoring with an RBI single later in the inning that chased home Will Kennedy

The Seahawks tacked on a run in the eighth on a solo home run from Alek DeMartino. But Mike McKenna came on to relieve Russell Hunter with two outs in the eighth and a runner on second. The Pride's closer got out of the inning unscathed and then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his ninth save.

Hofstra recorded 12 hits on the night with Dylan Palmer, Masiuk, Rosso, and Pelcher each recording a pair.
