McCoy's Three RBIs Lift Hofstra Past Seton Hall

South Orange, NJ - Alex McCoy had three hits and three RBIs, including an RBI single in the top of the ninth that gave Hofstra a 4-2 lead, and the Pride held off Seton Hall, 4-3, Wednesday evening at Sheppard Stadium. The win was Hofstra's fourth in a row. The Pride improved to 18-27 overall, while Seton Hall dipped to 21-24.

Luke Masiuk put the Pride on the scoreboard in the third inning as he took a 1-0 pitch to straightaway centerfield. The ball struck the wall and Pirates center fielder Devin Hack hit the fence as well. Masiuk motored around the bases to record the inside the park home run.

McCoy doubled the lead in the fifth with an RBI single that scored Dom Camera, who had walked and went to third on Dylan Palmer's single. The Pride's center fielder struck again in the seventh with an RBI single that drove in Michael Brown, who walked earlier in the inning. After the Pirates put up two runs in the eighth, McCoy came through with an insurance run in the ninth as his two-out single knocked in Camera, who had singled with one out and went to second on a groundout.

The Pride employed a bullpen day, using six pitchers. Cade Henry (2-2), the second of the six, picked up the win after allowing no runs on one hit over three innings. Mike McKenna went the final 1 ⅓ innings and allowed one run to earn his seventh save of the season.

Santino Rosso and Masiuk each had two hits for Hofstra, while Camera scored twice.

Max Viera drove in two runs for the Pirates, while Zack Sylvester had a pair of hits. Anthony Ehly (0-2) went four innings and allowed a run on four hits to take the loss.
