Hofstra Cruises To Win Over Hampton

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team had four different players with hat tricks as the Pride easily dispatched of Hampton, 21-5, on Saturday afternoon at James M. Shuart Stadium.

Gerard Kane (4), John Madsen (3), Anthony Mollica (3), and Justin Sykes (3) were the leading scorers for the Pride. The hat trick was the eighth this season for Madsen, the third this season for Sykes and the first this season for Kane and Mollica.

Hofstra moved to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in CAA play. Hampton dropped to 0-12 and 0-6 in the league.

Sykes scored all three of his goals during a game-opening 11-0 run that all but decided the contest. Sykes scored the first goal of the game and Sam Lutfi put the finishing touches on the run with a goal off an assist from Griffin Turner. Nine of the goals came during the first quarter as the Pride shutout the Pirates in the opening 15 minutes.

Kane added two assists for a six-point game for the Pride. Mollica added an assist for four points, while Turner posted a goal and three assists for Hofstra.
