Hofstra Tripped Up At FDU

Teaneck, NJ - Santino Rosso and Michael Brown each had a pair of hits, and Luke Masiuk added a solo home run but it was not enough as FDU posted a 3-2 win over the Pride Wednesday at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Knights.

Hofstra dropped to 11-20 with its second loss. FDU is 13-17 overall.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI fielder's choice from Brelon Harden. The Pride would tie it up in the fifth on Rosso's sacrifice fly.

FDU loaded the bases in the fifth off losing pitcher Matt Haggerty (0-3) and scored on a walk to Hunter D'Amato. Joey DiMotta followed with an RBI fielder's choice to extend the Knights lead to 3-1. Haggerty allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in an inning of work.

Masiuk cut the Pride's deficit to one with a solo home run to left center. But that was as close as the Pride would get as Luke Russo worked around two hits in the ninth to record his second save.

Joey Kosowsky (3-6) was credited with the win, allowing a run on one hit in two innings.

Hofstra returns to action Friday at Elon. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

Notes:
-Joseph Curreri started for the Pride and allowed an unearned run on two hits over two innings.
-Ryan McLaughlin pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
