Lewisburg, PA - Jurius Clark and Keaton Kluever are Hofstra's two remaining competitors following day one of the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships Friday at Bucknell University. Hofstra is 16th in the 17-team field with 14 points. Cornell leads the field with 91.5 points and has nine wrestlers in the championship semifinals.

The Pride did not fare well in the championship bracket, with nine of the Pride's 10 entrants dropping their opening match. Kluever was the lone Pride victor as he scored an 11-5 decision over 13th-seeded Vincent Mueller of Columbia.

Noah Tapia, seeded eighth, had a lead in his 149-pound match against No. 9 seed Dominic Findora of Drexel, but a takedown in the final 30 seconds gave the Dragons wrestler a 5-4 advantage that he would not relinquish. Eighth-seeded Jake Slotnick also dropped a heartbreaker at 165 as he fell, 6-5, to No. 9 Cael Berg of Harvard.

In the championship quarterfinals, Kluever dropped a 13-0 major decision to 16th-ranked and fifth-seeded Lewis Fernandes of Cornell to drop into the consolations. Tapia, Clark, and Slotnick each rebounded with wins in their first round of consolations, and Will Conlon advanced via medical forfeit.

Following the second round of consolations, only Kluever and Clark remained in contention. Clark won by decision, 11-4, over 14th-seeded Devan Capato of American. Kluever scored a 14-3 major decision over Will Jarrell or American to advance to Saturday.
