Hofstra Tripped Up At Towson In Series Finale

Towson, MD - Towson scored seven runs in the final three turns at bat to erase a 6-3 deficit and held on for a 10-8 victory over Hofstra Sunday in a Coastal Athletic Association game at Schuerholz Park. The win gave the Tigers the series win over the Pride.

Hofstra slipped to 10-17 overall and 2-4 in the CAA with the loss, while Towson moved to 7-20 overall and 2-4 in league play.

Towson took a 1-0 lead in the third on Bryce Frederick's solo home run before the Pride took the lead in the fourth on a two-run double from Will Kennedy. A three-run fifth pushed Hofstra's lead to 5-1 as Dylan Palmer had an RBI single, Alex McCoy an RBI double, and Kennedy a bases-loaded walk. After Towson pulled within two in the bottom of the fourth, Santino Rosso made it a 6-3 game with a triple that scored Palmer.

The Tigers tied the game in the sixth with Brian Heckelman driving in two runs with a single and Frederick adding an RBI single. Towson went ahead to stay in the seventh as Josh Janove led off with a double and Jordan Peyton followed with a double of his own to make it 7-6. Taye Robinson added an RBI single to extend the lead to two, 8-6.

Hofstra added a run in the eighth as Matt Pelcher doubled and came in on a double from Palmer, who had three hits on the day.
