Sweeney Hits First Home Run In Hofstra Loss At Towson

Towson, MD - Cole Stefano drove in four runs, while Bryce Frederick and Josh Janove knocked in two each as Towson built an eight run lead after seven innings and went on to post a 10-5 victory over Hofstra in the opening game of a three-game Coastal Athletic Association series at Schuerholz Park Friday afternoon.

The Tigers struck first, scoring three in the third inning. A pair of bunt singles from Taye Robinson and Stefano got the inning started before Frederick drove in a run with a double off the fence in left field. Two batters later, Janove brought in two runs with a single up the middle.

Hofstra (9-16, 1-3 CAA) broke through in the sixth as Dylan Palmer walked, stole second, went to third on an infield out, and scored on Alex McCoy's sacrifice fly to center field.

However, Towson (6-19, 1-3 CAA) added three more runs in the bottom of the inning with Robinson delivering an RBI double and Stefano a two-run single. The Pride would get a run in the seventh as Luke Masiuk walked, went to third on a Will Kennedy double, and scored on Matt Pelcher's sacrifice fly to left field to make it a 6-2 game.
