Hofstra Rallies Past LIU

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap a 10-10 tie and held on for a 12-10 victory over LIU Wednesday at University Field. Cade Henry pitched a scoreless top of the seventh to earn the win, while Russell Hunter shut the Sharks down for the final two innings to earn the save.

Hofstra moved to 9-15 on the season with its second win in a row, while LIU dropped to 7-14.

The Pride led, 8-5, after three innings before the Sharks scored five times in the fourth inning to take a 10-8 lead. Hofstra tied the score in their next at-bat with Penn Sealey driving in two runs with a single to center field. 

Ryan McLaughlin came on in the fifth inning and did not allow a hit in his two innings. Henry (1-2) followed with a scoreless seventh inning and was the beneficiary of the Hofstra offense in the bottom of the frame. Michael Florides started the inning with a bunt single and went to third on two errors on the play. Dylan Palmer followed with a single up the middle that broke the tie. Two batters later, Alex McCoy drove in Palmer with a single to close out the scoring. 

Hunter came on in the eighth and retired all six batters he faced to earn his first save. 

Noah Tabaie (0-1) took the loss for the Sharks, allowing two runs on three hits over two innings. 

Hofstra returns to action Friday at Towson in the start of a three-game CAA series. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Notes: 
-McCoy had three hits and two RBIs for the Pride.
-Santino Rosso had two hits including a double and scored two runs.
-Florides and Sealey each had two hits and drove in three runs. 
-Dom Camera had an RBI double.
-Hofstra posted its third straight game without an error.
