Hofstra Rally Falls Short At Fordham

Bronx, NY - Hofstra rallied from a 10-0 deficit in the final three innings but could not complete the comeback as Fordham held on for a 10-8 victory Wednesday at Houlihan Field. Alex McCoy had two hits and four RBIs, while Santino Rosso had three hits on the day.

The Rams (7-13) got a run in the first after a single, a walk, and a wild pitch put runners on second and third with no outs. Daniel Bucciero then delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Ryan Thiesse with the first run of the game. Fordham would add another run in the second on Nico Boza's solo home run.

Fordham would double the lead in the third as Bucciero doubled, stole third and scored on a throwing error ahead of a solo home run off the bat of Tommy McAndrews. The Rams would score six runs with two outs in the fifth, to take a 10-0 lead. Chris Genaro had the big hit, a three-run triple.

The Pride (6-13) broke through in the seventh as Steve Harrington and Dom Camera singled, followed by an RBI double from Michael Brown that made it a 10-1 game. Michael Florides then delivered a two-run single to bring the Pride within seven at 10-3. McCoy hit a solo home run in the eighth and then had a three-run double with two outs in the Pride's four-run ninth. Sean Lane added an RBI single that made it a two-run game. The Pride would load the bases in the inning for a second time, but the Rams were able to secure the final out and the victory.

Joseph Curreri (0-1) made the start for the Pride and allowed four runs on five hits over three innings. Aric Berg (2-0) picked up the win for the Rams with two scoreless innings.
