Pride Dominates On Road; Ends Spartans 18-Game Home Court Win Streak

Norfolk, VA - Cruz Davis and KiJan Robinson each scored 20 points, and Jean Aranguren added 19 as the Hofstra men's basketball team pulled away for an 80-67 road victory over Norfolk State on Monday evening at Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall. The Pride led by as many as 19 points in the second stanza before settling in for the 13-point win. 

The Hofstra win snapped Norfolk State's 18-game home court win streak, which ranked as the nation's eighth-longest coming into the day. 

Aranguren added team-highs of seven rebounds and six assists to his scoring total, while Michael Graham chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds. 

Hofstra won its third consecutive game in improving to 8-3 this season. Norfolk State dropped to 6-4 with the loss. 


After taking a six-point lead at the break, Hofstra gradually pulled away and over the first 10:02 of the second half the Pride used a 27-14 run to take its largest lead of the game at 64-45. Hofstra was never seriously challenged the rest of the way as they cruised to the win. 


German Plotnikov got his first start of the season and added two points, three rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. Silas Sunday had four points and six rebounds, while Khalil Farmer tallied four points. 

Jalen Myers led Norfolk State with 17 points and five rebounds, while Christian Ings added 12 points and five assists.

NOTES
- Hofstra is now 3-0 all-time against Norfolk State. This marked the second consecutive season the teams have met and the first-ever meeting was in 2014-15. 
- Hofstra had two players with 20 or more points for the first time since Davis (21) and Aranguren (20) at Massachusetts earlier this season. 
- Graham was a perfect 5-5 from the field. He is the first player to go perfect from the field with at least five attempts since Silas Sunday earlier this season. Graham is now shooting 78% (38-49) from the field this season. 
- Robinson reached double figures for the fifth time this season and the second consecutive game after pouring in 28 against St. Joseph's Long Island. 
- Hofstra has shot at least 60% in each of its last two games after shooting 61.2% on Friday 
- Davis reached double figures for the seventh time this season and scored at least 20 points for the fourth time in 2024-25.
