Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Shannon Smith announced today the addition of nine student-athletes to join the Pride and begin their academic and athletic careers at the University in the fall of 2025.

"What an exciting day for our program and these great young women," said Smith. "The future of Hofstra women's lacrosse is bright with the addition of these talented ladies who will all bring incredible skill, talent, and drive to our program."

Goalie Saoirse Feerick (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach Senior)...Member of the lacrosse, swim, and basketball teams for the Marines…Team is three-time Nassau County Class B runner-up.

Midfielder Elizabeth Flannery (Garrett Park, MD/Connelly School of the Holy Child)...Played lacrosse, field hockey, and ice hockey for the Tigers…Earned second team honors as a junior…Team starter in three sports…Brother, Harry, played baseball at Army West Point…Brother, Peter, plays lacrosse at Bowdoin…Father, Jim, played football at Penn…Cousin, Megan, plays lacrosse for Hofstra.

Midfielder/Attacker Charli Joyce (Parkville, MD/Notre Dame Preparatory)...Played lacrosse and basketball for the Blazers…Has scored 16 goals during her career…Mom, Eva, played lacrosse at Towson…Sister, Tatum, played lacrosse at Coastal Carolina…Sister, Jade, played lacrosse at the Community College of Baltimore County.

Midfielder Shannon Steck (Massapequa, NY/Saint Anthony's)...Member of the lacrosse, soccer, and basketball teams for the Friars…Ranked as the No. 17 attacker on Long Island by Long Island Lax Journal…Team won three consecutive Class AA NSCHSAA championships…Father, James, played football at UAlbany.

Defender Analeigh Thorpe (Southington, CT/Southington)...Played lacrosse and field hockey for the Blue Knights…Named Second Team All-State as a junior and Named All-Conference as a junior as well…Team captured Central Connecticut Conference championships as a junior and sophomore…Brother, Colton, wrestles at Wilkes. 

Midfielder Cecelia Thurmond (Westwood, MA/Westwood)...Played lacrosse and field hockey for the Wolverines…Had 40 goals, 17 assists, 19 ground balls, and 11 caused turnovers as a junior…Father, Mark, played football at Hofstra. 

Attacker Meaghan Tufano (East Moriches, NY/Westhampton Beach)...Tallied 13 points for the Hurricanes…Team was Long Island and Country champions in 2022…Sister, Kyleigh, plays lacrosse at Fairfield. 

Defender Grace Varley (Babylon, NY/Babylon Junior-Senior)...Member of the lacrosse and soccer teams for the Panthers…Named unsung hero…Member of the 2024 Long Island Championship finalist squad…Team was County finalist in 2023…Father, Myles, played lacrosse at Rutgers.

Attacker Scarlett Welsome (Mission Viejo, CA/St. Margaret's Episcopal)...Played lacrosse and also rank track and field and cross country for the Tartans…Posted 58 goals and 35 assists as a junior and 24 goals, 21 assists, 55 ground balls, 50 draw controls, and 24 caused turnovers as a sophomore…Named First Team All-CIF in lacrosse.
