Izadora Stedile had match-highs of 10 kills and 17 digs to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to a dominating three-set sweep of North Carolina A&T in the first round of the CAA Championship at TU Arena on Thursday afternoon.Â
The fourth-seeded Pride moves on to the semifinals where Hofstra will face top-seeded Charleston at 3 p.m. on Friday.Â
Hofstra improved to 19-9 overall with the win, while North Carolina A&T ended its season with a record of 17-10. Set scores were 25-14, 25-14, and 25-20 in favor of the Pride.Â
It was as dominant of an effort as the Pride has had in some time as Hofstra held the Aggies to a negative .011 hitting percentage in the match.
Beatriz Alves tallied 31 assists, five digs, two service aces, and two kills in the match, while
Constanza Perez Sain had eight kills and four digs.
Chiara Cucco posted 15 digs for the Pride, which also got five kills and three blocks from
Iyanna Garvin.Â
Tyne Ross had eight kills and seven digs for North Carolina A&T, which also got seven kills and six digs from Hannah Howell.Â
Friday's match will air on FloCollege. Hofstra and Charleston did not face each other during the regular season.Â
NOTES
- Hofstra is now 6-1 all-time against North Carolina A&T. The Pride swept all three matches from the Aggies in 2024.Â
- The semifinal appearance will be the Pride's first since 2021.Â
- The double-double was Stedile's team-leading 14th of the season.Â
- Cucco has reached double figures in digs in 37 consecutive matches.Â
