Williamsburg, VA - Five different players had at least seven kills, led by
Izadora Stedile's 10, to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to a three-set sweep of William & Mary on Saturday afternoon at Kaplan Arena. It was the second consecutive sweep over the Tribe following Friday's three-set affair.
Stedile added nine digs to her total, while
Constanza Perez Sain had nine kills, six digs, and four service aces and
Beatriz Braga had nine kills as well.
Hofstra moved to 15-8 overall and 11-3 in CAA play with the win and will stay in first place in the league standings regardless of the rest of this weekend's results. William & Mary fell to 8-15 and 4-10 in the conference. The Pride has won 11 of its last 13 matches.
Set scores were 25-21, 25-15, and 25-18.
Chiara Cucco picked up a match-high 14 digs in the contest with
Beatriz Alves (23 assists) and
Ellie Pamatat (17 assists) sharing the setting duties for the Pride.
Iyanna Garvin had eight kills and three blocks and Yagmur Cinei chipped in with seven kills in the match.
Hofstra used big runs at the end of the first and second sets to take control as the Pride ended the first stanza with a 12-3 run and scored the final seven points of set two.
Nicole Smith had nine kills for William & Mary, while Katherine Arnason added eight kills for the Tribe.
Hofstra is back at home next weekend when it hosts North Carolina A&T on Saturday and Sunday.

- Hofstra is now 34-19 all-time against William & Mary. The Pride has won 19 consecutive regular season meetings against the Tribe.
