Mansur Notches 200th Career Win As Hofstra Gets Past Towson In Five

Towson, MD - Hofstra and Towson went toe-to-toe in a battle of two first-place teams, but the Pride prevailed in the decisive fifth set to post a 3-2 Coastal Athletic Association victory over the Tigers Friday night at Towson University Arena. Set scores were 17-25, 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 15-12. The victory was the 200th in the head coaching career of Emily Mansur, who is in her 11th year at the helm of the Pride. 

Hofstra moved to 18-8 overall with the win and is 14-3 in the CAA. The Pride has won five consecutive matches. Towson slips to 22-5 overall and 13-4 in league action. The loss snapped Towson's eight-match winning streak and knocked the Tigers out of a first place tie in the league. 

The Pride saw a balanced offense with four players recording double-digit kills led by Clara Bal's 16. Izadora Stedile had 15 kills and 12 digs, while Constanza Perez Sain had 14 kills. Iyanna Garvin matched her career-best with 10 kills. Hofstra's two setters Beatriz Ales and Ellie Pamatat notched double-doubles. Alves had 25 assists and 12 digs, while Pamatat had 26 assists and 10 digs. Chiara Cucco recorded a match-high 17 digs for the Pride. 

Towson was led by Victoria Barrett's 15 kills. Ava Nakai had 12 kills, while Sydney Stewart led the Tigers with 13 digs.  

Hofstra and Towson play again Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the final match of the regular season. 

Notes:
-Hofstra remains tied for first place with Delaware and Charleston going into the last day of the regular season.
-Hofstra is 47-24 all-time versus Towson.
-Mansur is the second coach in Hofstra volleyball history to record 200 wins, joining Fran Kalafer (590 in 25 seasons at Hofstra).
-Hofstra is 3-2 in five-set matches.
-Stedile has 12 double-doubles this season, while Alves has four and Pamatat has three.
-Garvin added six blocks, while Emilly Nunes had five.
