Hofstra Opens Home Slate With Three Dual Matches

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University wrestling team opens its home and dual match schedule with three matches Saturday, November 16 at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. The Pride will face Duke at 11:30 a.m., The Citadel at 1:30 p.m., and Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m. in an EIWA match. In addition, Sacred Heart will take on The Citadel at 11:30 a.m. and Duke at 1:30 on mat two. 

Tickets for the event are available by calling 516-HOF-TIXX or by visiting HofstraTickets.com. Tickets will also be available for purchase on Saturday at the Mack Sports Complex Box Office. There will be video streaming available for all five matches, as well as live statistics. Links are available on the wrestling schedule on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra will be hosting a free All-American Clinic for youth wrestlers from grades 3-12 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with all participants receiving a free ticket to the dual matches. The clinic will feature Hofstra All-Americans Jon Masa, Justin Accordino, Nick Gallo, and Mike Patrovich. 

Hofstra has wrestled in two tournaments thus far, competing at the Princeton Open and the Journeymen Collegiate Classic. Saturday's duals will mark the home debut of first-year Head Coach Jamie Franco. No stranger to Hofstra, Franco wrestled at Hofstra and was an assistant coach from 2016 to 2023. 

The Pride is 1-5 in their last six dual match openers and dropped the 2023-24 opener to No. 6 Ohio State. Hofstra is 1-1 versus Duke. The Pride won the last match, 25-19, on December 5, 2021 at American. Hofstra is 3-0 versus The Citadel with the last match a 36-7 victory at home on January 11, 2020. Hofstra holds a 14-0 lead in the all-time series with Sacred Heart. The teams did not meet last season, but the Pride won 43-6 on the road on February 11, 2023. 

Following Saturday's matches, Hofstra will return to action at No. 6 Ohio State on Sunday, November 24 at 12 p.m.
