Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra field hockey team dropped a non-conference contest against in-state foe Columbia to the tune of a 3-0 result versus the Lions from Cindy Lewis Stadium.
Hofstra's record slips to 2-7 following the defeat, and Columbia improves its mark to 3-6 on the season.
Columbia jumped on the board at the 7:40 mark of the first quarter on a counter-attacking opportunity following a Columbia save on a penalty corner shot from
Jamie Mc Millan. The Lions added a second goal inside the first minute of the second quarter on a penalty corner, and the third tally of the game occurred at 11:23 of the third quarter on another counter-attack by the Lions.
Pieke Roos logged five saves against Columbia.
Simryn Desai led the tea with three shots, while
Tara McNally had a pair of shots go on frame versus the Lions.
Hofstra resumes its CAA schedule on Friday, October 11, at 4 p.m. against Drexel. The Pride's next home game will be on Sunday, October 13, where they will face Rider at 1 p.m.
