Roos Stops 13 Shots in Overtime Defeat

Philadelphia, PA – Reigning All-Region goalkeeper Pieke Roos totaled 13 saves as the Hofstra field hockey team gave CAA-leading Drexel all it could handle for 60 minutes plus overtime, but the Dragons edged the Pride 1-0 in the first overtime period on a deflection goal.

Hofstra's record sinks to 2-9 overall and 0-3 against league opponents, and Drexel improves to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the CAA.

Roos made 12 saves in regulation against the Dragons, including four in the second quarter and a game-high five in the fourth quarter, to help send the CAA game to overtime despite the Pride only taking one shot in the game. She swatted away her 13th save of the contest inside the first minute of overtime, but Drexel won the game on a deflection by Val Van Hellemont off a penalty corner shot from Natali Foster with 3:16 remaining in the extra frame.

Hofstra takes a break from its CAA schedule on Sunday, October 13, to host Rider at 1 p.m. from Cindy Lewis Stadium.
