Roos Makes Season-High 17 Saves, Canavan Scores In 2-1 Loss At American

Washington, DC - Hofstra goalkeeper Pieke Roos made a season-high 17 saves but American snapped a 1-1 tie in the third quarter and held on for a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon at Jacobs Recreational Complex.

Hofstra dips to 4-13 with the loss, while American improves to 10-7 with its second consecutive win.

The Pride got on the board first as Jaime Lewis, following a restart, sent a long pass into the circle that was collected and sent in by Heather Canavan at the 2:18 mark. It was the first goal of the season for the Hofstra senior. Jordan Reicher evened things up for the Eagles less than a minute later with her seventh goal of the season.

Augustina Roffo broke the tie at the 34:33 mark. It was the seniors second goal of the season and proved to be the game-winner.

Hofstra returns to action Friday at home against Northeastern. The Coastal Athletic Association game at Cindy Lewis Stadium is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
