Woznicki's Goal Not Enough In 3-1 Loss At Charleston

Mount Pleasant, SC - Jacob Woznicki scored his eighth goal of the season for Hofstra, but the Pride spotted Charleston two first half goals in a 3-1 Coastal Athletic Association loss at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point Saturday afternoon. The loss snapped a three-game unbeaten streak for the 18th-ranked Pride.

Hofstra dropped to 10-4-2 overall and 4-3 in CAA action with the loss. Charleston improved to 10-4-2 overall and 4-1-2 in conference action.

The Pride dominated play in the early going but on one of their first sustained offensive possessions, Charleston's Leonardo D'Ambrosio sent a shot across the goal mouth and inside the far post at the 10 minute mark to put the Cougars up 1-0. Ryan Watson doubled the lead 10:26 later with D'Ambrosio and Adil Iggoute getting assists.

Woznicki gave Hofstra some life at 54:08 as he put in a long pass from Teddy Baker to make it a 2-1 game. Pierce Infuso, who started the play with a pass to Baker, was also credited with the assist. But nearly 20 minutes later, Iggoute put Charleston back up by two from Tom Wilson and Ezra White and effectively sealed the Cougars victory.

Hofstra returns to action Saturday, November 2 at home against Delaware on Senior Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
