Hofstra Defense Makes Baker's Goal Stand In 1-0 Win Over Campbell

Hempstead, NY - Teddy Baker scored a first half goal and Filippo Dadone and the Hofstra defense made it stand up as the No. 21/17 Pride defeated Campbell, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in a Coastal Athletic Association game at Captains Field.

Hofstra moved to 9-3-1 overall and 4-2-0 in league play. The win snapped a short two-game losing streak for the Pride. Campbell is 6-4-4 overall and 2-2-1 in CAA play after suffering their second consecutive defeat.

Baker notched his third goal of the season just 8:46 into the contest. Following a Campbell foul just outside of their 18-yard box, Baker curled the ensuing free kick from approximately 23-yards out inside the left post.

That would be all the scoring as Dadone stopped the only two shots on goal he faced and the Pride defense limited the Fighting Camels scoring chances. Campbell goalkeeper Samy Slimi stopped four shots.

Hofstra returns to action Tuesday night when it travels to Raleigh, North Carolina for a 6 p.m. matchup with North Carolina State.
