Hofstra Notches Sixth Straight Win

Hempstead, NY - Clara Bal had 17 kills, while Izadora Stedile added 14 kills and a career-high 23 digs to lead Hofstra to a 3-1 Coastal Athletic Association victory over Northeastern Friday night at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center. Set scores were 22-25, 25-13, 25-16, and 25-20.

Hofstra moved to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in the CAA with its sixth consecutive victory. Northeastern dropped to 7-8 overall and 5-2 in league play.

In addition to Bal and Stedile, Constanza Perez Sain added 13 kills and Emily Nunes added nine kills and four blocks. Iyanna Garvin also chipped in with six kills and five blocks. The setting tandem of Beatriz Alves (34) and Ellie Pamatat (20) combined for 54 assists in the match. Chiara Cucco had 25 digs to lead the team. 

Northeastern was led by Brynn Smith's 12 kills. Carly Cooper had 15 digs and 13 assists, while Gabby Reeves added 14 digs and 11 assists. 

Hofstra and Northeastern continue the two-game series Saturday with a 3 p.m. first serve. 

Notes:
-Hofstra is 50-18 all-time against Northeastern.
-The Pride had 65 kills and hit .238 in the match and held Northeastern to 34 kills and a .122 hitting percentage.
-Bal added nine digs and two service aces in the match and hit at a .293 clip.
-Hofstra moved to 3-1 at home.
