Dubar, Carlos Lead Pride To CAA Road Win At Stony Brook

Stony Brook, NY - Darlinstone Dubar continued his impressive run with 30 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaquan Carlos established a new career-high with 23 points as Hofstra rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to defeat Stony Brook, 80-74, in a Coastal Athletic Association game Monday night at Island Federal Arena. The Pride outscored the Seawolves, 48-37 in the final 20 minutes and used an 8-0 run with under eight minutes to play to retake the lead.

Hofstra moves to 10-9 overall and 3-3 in CAA play with the win. Stony Brook slips to 9-10 overall and 2-4 in league action. The victory was Hofstra's second in a row. 

Dubar matched his career-high with 30 points and posted his third double-double in a row and seventh of the season. Carlos eclipsed his previous high of 19 points and added six assists. Tyler Thomas also finished in double-figures with 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds. 

The Pride jumped out to an early 8-3 lead behind three-pointers from German Plotnikov and Dubar, and a driving layup off the glass from Jacco Fritz. The lead would grow to 11, 15-4 with just over 13 minutes on the clock following a three-pointer from Carlos. Stony Brook responded with a 15-0 run to take a 19-15 lead with 8:30 on the clock on Dean Noll's layup. The lead would grow to as many as nine, 26-17. Hofstra would hang around and pull within two, 31-29, with 1:37 to go on a layup from Dubar. The Seawolves would score six of the final nine points in the half, including a putback as time expired, to take a 37-32 lead at the break. 

Stony Brook maintained the lead in the second half, but the Pride stayed within striking distance. Thomas made it a two-point game, 49-47, with a step back jumper with 13:36 on the clock. A little over two minutes later, Carlos knocked down a three to get the Pride within one, 51-50. The Pride would retake the lead for the first time since the first half, 60-59, on Dubar's baseline layup with 6:52 to go. The Pride would score four more points to go up 64-59 with 5:09 to play and cap an 8-0 run. Hofstra would lead by as many as eight and would not relinquish the lead. The Seawolves would get within three, 72-69 with a minute to go. Carlos would make one of two free throws to make it a two possession game with just under a minute. Noll sank a pair of free throws for Stony Brook to make the score 73-71 in favor of the Pride with 42 seconds to go. Carlos would seal the game with four free throws down the stretch and Plotnikov closed the Hofstra scoring with a three-point play in the final second. The Seawolves had a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the final score, 80-74.

Noll led the Seawolves with 19 points, while Andre Snoddy added 17 points and 11 rebounds.

-Dubar moved into 35th-place on the Hofstra career scoring list with 1,096 points.

-The road win was Hofstra's second of the season and ended a six-game road losing streak.
