Boston, MA -
Clara Bal had a career-high 20 kills to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to a four-set win over Northeastern on Saturday afternoon at Cabot Gymnasium.
The win was the Pride's seventh consecutive victory, the program's longest since a nine-match streak in 2018.
Izadora Stedile added 17 kills and 13 digs, while
Yagmur Cinel posted 13 kills with just one hitting error, and
Beatriz Alves chipped in with 48 assists, nine digs, four service aces, four blocks, and two kills.
Hofstra improved to a spectacular 13-1 overall and 3-0 in CAA play with the win. Northeastern is now 6-5 and 2-1 in league play. The record through 14 matches continues to be the best since the 1988 team began the year with a 23-1 record. Set scores were 25-16, 21-25, 25-14, and 25-21.
Hofstra was nearly unstoppable in the first set, hitting at a .343 clip and holding Northeastern to a .160 attack percentage in jumping out to the early lead. After the Huskies knotted the score at one after the second stanza, the Pride hit .400 in the third set and would cruise from that point in taking the match in four sets.
Chiara Cucco tallied a match and season-high 21 digs in the match, while
Emilly Nunes added six kills and three blocks.
Julianna Truscott had 10 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks for Northeastern, which also got 29 assists and 14 digs from Inbal Peleg.
These same two squads will meet again on Sunday at 2 p.m. The match will air on FloVolleyball.
