Goldthorp's Late Goal Gives Hofstra A Draw At Campbell

Buies Creek, NC - Eliot Goldthorp had a brace with his second goal coming in the final minute as Hofstra salvaged a 2-2 draw with Campbell in a Coastal Athletic Association game at the Eakes Athletics Complex Saturday afternoon.

The Pride moved to 4-1-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the CAA with the draw. Campbell is 1-1-4 overall and 0-1-2 in league play.

Following a scoreless first half in which the Pride held an offensive advantage, the Camels came out in the second half with some energy and got on the board 3:38 into the stanza. A streaking Teva Lossec converted a pass in front from Marco Wright to give Campbell the lead.

Goldthorp answered for the Pride just about 10 minutes later as he sent in a pass from Albert Kang for his second goal of the season. The tie score did not last long as the Camels Tai-Reece Chisolm snuck in behind the defense and scored off a pass from Alexy Issa Alban at the 62:37 mark. Campbell had opportunities to add an insurance goal including one with just over three minutes to play when a sure goal was cleared off the line by Shane Salmon.

That turned out to be a huge play as the Pride pushed everyone forward in the final minute and following a flurry of activity, Ryan Carmichael slid a pass to Teddy Baker on the right side of the box. The Pride junior threaded a perfect pass to Goldthorp in front and the All-American sent it home to earn a point for the Pride in the CAA standings and deny the Camels their first-ever CAA victory.

Wessel Speel made one save for the Pride, while Campbell keeper Samy Slimi had six saves.

Hofstra will return to action Tuesday against LIU in a 2 p.m. game.
