Hofstra Hosts Delaware to Open CAA Play

Hempstead, NY – Fresh off a Sunday home win over Stonehill, the Hofstra field hockey team will kick off its Coastal Athletic Association schedule on Friday against defending CAA champions #19 Delaware from Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Opening whistle is set for 3 p.m.
 
The game will be streamed live on FloLive. A WRHU audio-only broadcast will also be available through the Hofstra Alternative Web Channel (HAWC). These broadcast links, as well as the link to live statistics, are available on this release and the field hockey schedule page on GoHofstra.com.
 
The Pride enters its conference opener with a 3-3 mark following a 3-0 defeat at UAlbany and a 4-1 home victory against Stonehill. Samantha Spera scored her third goal of the season and notched an assist against the Skyhawks, while Jamie Mc Millan, Gabriela Espinoza, and Logan Oswald all found the back of the goal for the Pride and Pieke Roos tallied three saves against the Skyhawks.
 
Spera's three goals and seven points lead the Pride six games into the 2023 season, and Kesia Richardson leads the team with five assists.
 
Ranked #19 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches' Poll, Delaware is 3-3 following defeats to nationally-ranked Princeton on September 8 and Penn State on September 10. CAA Preseason Player of the Year Kiki Oudshoorn leads the Fightin' Blue Hens with 21 points on 10 goals and one assist.
 
The all-time series record stands at 30-7 in favor of Delaware, including a 6-4 loss in Delaware in 2022. Hofstra's last win over the Fightin' Blue Hens came in 2014, a 5-2 road win for the Pride.
