Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra volleyball team will open the 2023 campaign on Friday when it hosts the annual Hofstra Invitational.
The two-day tournament features the host Pride, along with Delaware State, NJIT, and Siena. It gets under way at 3 p.m. on Friday with Delaware State taking on NJIT. Hofstra will play its opening match at 6 p.m. against Siena. Saturday's slate has four matches on the docket, including Hofstra matches at 1:30 p.m. (NJIT) and 7 p.m. (Delaware State).

Hofstra is coming off a 17-win season in 2022 as the Pride finished in second in the CAA standings with a 14-2 regular season conference mark.
Three members of the 2023 team earned preseason accolades from the CAA as juniors
Beatriz Alves and
Chiara Cucco were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, while graduate student
Sarah Pierre earned a spot on the Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention Team.
Delaware State won 24 matches a season ago and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. NJIT picked up eight victories last year, while Siena earned 13 wins.
Hofstra is 12-1 all-time against Siena, 6-0 against NJIT, and 2-0 versus Delaware State.
