Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra volleyball team will open the 2023 campaign on Friday when it hosts the annual Hofstra Invitational. 

The two-day tournament features the host Pride, along with Delaware State, NJIT, and Siena. It gets under way at 3 p.m. on Friday with Delaware State taking on NJIT. Hofstra will play its opening match at 6 p.m. against Siena. Saturday's slate has four matches on the docket, including Hofstra matches at 1:30 p.m. (NJIT) and 7 p.m. (Delaware State). 

All matches will air on FloVolleyball with the audio for the Hofstra matches provided by WRHU (88.7 FM). Links to video, audio, and live statistics are available on this page and on the volleyball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. 

Hofstra is coming off a 17-win season in 2022 as the Pride finished in second in the CAA standings with a 14-2 regular season conference mark. 

Three members of the 2023 team earned preseason accolades from the CAA as juniors Beatriz Alves and Chiara Cucco were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, while graduate student Sarah Pierre earned a spot on the Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention Team. 

Delaware State won 24 matches a season ago and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. NJIT picked up eight victories last year, while Siena earned 13 wins. 

Hofstra is 12-1 all-time against Siena, 6-0 against NJIT, and 2-0 versus Delaware State.
