Hofstra Downs Monmouth Behind Strong Pitching, Potent Offense

West Long Branch, NJ - Mark Faello and Steven Kaenzig combined on a two-hitter and the Hofstra offense collected 17 hits as the Pride posted a 9-1 victory over Monmouth Saturday afternoon at MU Baseball Stadium. The win gave Hofstra a series victory ahead of Sunday's finale. 
Hofstra improved to 22-23 overall with the win and is 12-13 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Monmouth dropped to 15-24 overall and 5-16 in league action. 
 
Faello (5-6) went six innings and allowed one run on one hit with four strikeouts. Kaenzig went the final three innings, allowing one hit, for the save. It was the second consecutive strong pitching performance for the Pride following Brad Camarda's no-hitter Friday. 
 
The Pride scored all the runs they would need in the second inning as Dylan Palmer had a two-run single and Santino Rosso an RBI single. 
 
Palmer and Rosso each had big days at the dish. Palmer had four hits and two RBIs, while Rosso had four hits including a solo home run and four RBIs. 
 
Steve Harrington, Ryan Morash, and Michael Florides each had two hit games and eight of the Pride's nine starters had hits in the game. 
Will Trochiano drove in the lone Monmouth run with a seventh inning single. 
 
Hofstra and Monmouth conclude the series Sunday at 1 p.m.  

 
Notes
-Hofstra is now 7-10-1 against Monmouth. 
-Harrington extended his on-base streak to 37 games. 
-The Pride's 17 hits were one off their season-high.
