Hempstead, NY – Hofstra women's outdoor track distance runner
Jackalynn Orellana picked up the first race win of her collegiate career with a first place finish in the 3000m at the Hofstra Invitational, hosted by the Pride at Kellenberg Memorial High School.
A sophomore from Central Islip, New York, Orellana crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 11:25.29, leading the race from start to finish. Teammate
Samantha Szabo crossed the finish line in second with a time of 11:29.46.
At the conclusion of the Hofstra Invitational, Head Track & Field Coach
Vincent Giambanco and the Hofstra coaching staff honored graduating senior
Sophia Masciarelli. She was joined by Head Coach Giambanco, Assistant Coach Morgan Serkes, and her parents, and was presented with a framed uniform.
The Hofstra women will return to action at the 2023 Colonial Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 5-6 from Williamsburg, Virginia.
