Hummel Paces Pride As Hofstra Places Seventh At The Shark Invitational

Glen Head, NY - Jaxon Hummel shot a final round 74 (+4) and tied for 15th-place and Hofstra finished seventh as a team at The Shark Invitational at Brookville Country Club Tuesday afternoon. The tournament was Hofstra's final tuneup for the CAA Championship, which begins Sunday.

Hummel shot a three-round 220 (+10) to lead the Pride at the event. Dino Capazario was the Pride's next finisher, tying for 24th in the 54-player field with a 224 (+14). Capazario shot a final round 77 (+7).

Taishi Shigaki tied for 33rd-place with a 227 (+17) after a final round 80 (+10), while Joseph Giamanco's 229 (+19) tied him for 36th-place. Giamanco shot a 76 (+6) Tuesday. Vincent Apostolico tied for 39th-place at 231 (+21) following a final round 78 (+8). Mayaank Gally was 45th at 235 (+25) and shot a 79 (+9) Tuesday.

Hofstra had a final round 305 (+25) to finish with a 902 (+62) in the nine-team field. Siena and Fairleigh Dickinson shared the team title at 852 (+12). LIU had the individual medalist as Kyle Underwood shot a 67 (-3) to take a one-stroke victory over Siena's Matt Ferrari.

Hofstra is back in action Sunday at the CAA Championship at Dataw Island Golf Club in South Carolina.
