Hofstra Completes Sweep Of Towson Behind Camarda And Morash

Hempstead, NY - Brad Camarda pitched a complete game, four-hit shutout and Ryan Morash had three hits and five RBIs as Hofstra completed a three-game series sweep over Colonial Athletic Association rival Towson, 13-0, Sunday at University Field. The win was Hofstra's fifth in a row.

The Pride moved to 15-19 on the season and evened their CAA record at 9-9. Towson dropped to 10-26 overall and 2-13 in league play.

Camarda (4-1) was dominant in recording his second complete game shutout of the season. The right-hander needed just 103 pitches to get through his nine innings, allowing four hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

The Hofstra offense got all it would need in the first inning, loading the bases on two-out singles from Kevin Bruggeman and Steve Harrington, and a Santino Ross hit by pitch. Morash would clear the bases with a double to left field that gave the Pride a quick 3-0 lead.

Hofstra would break the game open with four runs in the fourth. Morash walked and went to third on a Matt Pelcher single. Zach Bailey drove in a run with an infield single and then Michael Florides drove in two runs with a single to right. The Pride would get their fourth run of the inning on a Towson error.

Morash would make it an 8-0 game in the fifth with a solo home run to left field, his first of the season. The Pride would add two more runs in the seventh, with Jake Liberatore driving in one on a single, and three in the eighth to cap the scoring.

Towson starter Ethan Pecko (0-1) took the loss after allowing seven runs on six hits over four innings of work. Elijah Dickerson and Jeremy Wagner had doubles for the Tigers.

Hofstra returns to action Tuesday at home versus Iona. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
