| By:
Richmond, VA – In an announcement by the Colonial Athletic Association Tuesday afternoon, Hofstra women's basketball graduate student guard Brandy Thomas was named to the All-CAA Second Team for an exemplary 2022-23 season.

This is the first All-CAA honor for Thomas and the fifth time in Thomas' playing career that she has earned postseason conference honors; she was a two-time All-NEC First Team selection in 2021-22 and 2019-20, and she received All-NEC Third Team accolades in 2020-21 and 2018-19.

Heading into the CAA Championship, Thomas leads the CAA with 8.5 rebounds per game and ranks 12th in the league in scoring at 13.5 points per game. Thomas posted those scoring numbers with a 40.7-percent shooting percentage and a three-point shooting percentage of 38.9-percent. In addition to her scoring and rebounding, Thomas has posted 50 assists, 34 steals, and five blocks.

Thomas led the team in scoring 15 times this season and she led the team in rebounding 19 times. She finished in double-figures 19 times this season, including four times finishing a game with at least 20 points, and Thomas posted double-digit rebounding figures on 11 occasions. Thomas' season-highs include 27 points (10-18 FG) against Stony Brook on January 1, 15 against Hampton on March 2, four steals three times, and three blocks against Elon on January 6.

Thomas, who had eight double-doubles during the season, hit a pair of late game-winning baskets during the year, including a buzzer-beater three-pointer against Towson on February 9, lifting Hofstra to a 58-57 win over the Tigers. Thomas achieved a career milestone against Hampton on March 2 when she passed 1,000 rebounds for her career.

The Hofstra women's basketball team begins its 2022-23 CAA Championship presented by Primis on Wednesday, March 8, in the First Round against the 12-seed UNCW. Tip-off against UNCW is set for 2 p.m. from the SECU Arena in Towson, Maryland.
