Hofstra Places 17th At Battle At Rum Pointe

Berlin, MD - Hofstra shot a final round 305 (+17) and Dino Capazario tied for 14th place as play concluded at the Battle at Rum Pointe Sunday. The two-day tournament was hosted by Iona at the Rum Pointe Golf Course. 

The Pride shaved 11 strokes off their first round score and was one of five teams to post a better score in round two. Hofstra was 17th in the 17-team field at 621 (+45). 

Capazario shot a 74 (+2) Sunday and finished at even-par 144 to finish in a five-way tie for 14th-place. Joseph Giamanco was Hofstra's next-best finisher, tying for 86th-place in the 100-player field. Giamanco had the biggest positive move of the day for the Pride, climbing five spots after a second round 76 (+4) gave him a two-round 158 (+14). 

Vincent Apostolico and Mayaank Gally tied for 92nd-place at 160 (+16). Apostolico shot a second round 77 (+5) and jumped four spots in the standings. Gally had a 78 (+6) in his Sunday round. Jaxon Hummel tied for 97th at 166 (+22) following a final round 84 (+12). 

Marcus Lim of Sacred Heart was the individual medalist at 135 (-9). Lim shot rounds of 69 (-3) and 66 (-6) to claim the title. Kyle Underwood of LIU, who shot the low round of the tournament with a final round 65 (-7), was second at 136 (-8).    

LIU was the team champion at 561 (-15) with Rider finishing as the runner-up at 575 (-1).

Hofstra returns to action April 4 at Monmouth.
