Monday Night Basketball; Hofstra Hosts Drexel

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will begin a busy week on Long Island as the Pride will host Drexel on Monday night. Peppercorns of Hicksville is the presenting game sponsor. Hofstra will be looking for its eighth consecutive win on Monday. 

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Hofstra will celebrate the academic achievement of its student-athletes with a halftime ceremony. In addition, the game is the program's Morgan Message game. Morgan's Message strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community.

The game will air on FloHoops and WRHU (88.7 FM) will have an audio-only broadcast available. Links to both can be found here and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

The game will be the fifth in the series for The Players Trunk playing cards with Monday's card featuring Warren Williams

Hofstra improved to 19-8 overall and 12-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play with a convincing 86-57 win over Monmouth on Saturday. The win was the Pride's seventh straight. 

Drexel is now 15-11 and 9-5 in conference action following a 73-66 overtime win over Towson on Saturday. The Dragons have won two straight and three out of their four. 

Hofstra is 49-47 all-time against Drexel in a series that began during the 1958-59 campaign. Hofstra won the first-ever meeting, 70-64, in the Middle Atlantic Championships. Heading into Monday's meeting, the Hofstra/Drexel series ranks as the Pride's second-most played opponent all-time as the two schools have met 96 times. Hofstra has only faced one team more as the Pride has met Delaware 101 times. Hofstra has won 11 of the last 12 in the series with the Dragons.
