Hempstead, NY - A pair of Hofstra volleyball players,
Beatriz Alves and
Sarah Pierre, were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, it was announced recently by the organization.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Alves, a fine arts major, has a 3.70 grade point average. This past season she totaled 1,147 assists, 250 digs, 87 kills, 43 service aces, and 42 total blocks. Alves ranks sixth all-time in program history with 3,270 career assists.
Pierre is a sport science major as a graduate student and had a 3.57 undergraduate GPA. She tallied 165 kills and 104 blocks in 2023. Pierre ranks eighth all-time in program history with 297 career block assists and eighth all-time in program history with 350 total blocks.
Both Alves and Pierre earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades last year as well.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 9, 2024.
