Tyler Thomas poured in 26 points, including eight three-pointers, and
Darlinstone Dubar added 17 points to lead the Hofstra men's basketball team to a dominating 101-48 victory over St. Joseph's (LI) in the season opener on Monday at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
The Pride had a total of five players in double figures as
KiJan Robinson (11),
Jaquan Carlos (10), and
German Plotnikov (10) joined Thomas and Dubar.
The Pride crossed the century mark for the first time since a 102-51 win over John Jay on December 12, 2021.
Leading 15-12 with 11:43 left in the first half, Hofstra took control with a 14-1 run to earn a 29-13 advantage following a three-pointer from
Griffin Barrouk with 8:53 left before intermission. The Pride would eventually take a 25-point lead into the break as
Bryce Washington closed the first half scoring at the 1:06 mark.
Hofstra overwhelmed St. Joseph's (LI) to open the second stanza as the Pride outscored the Golden Eagles, 30-2, over the first 7:20 of the second half. The run culminated with a three-pointer from Robinson. Plotnikov would push the Pride over 100 points with a last second dunk for the final margin of victory.
Plotnikov led Hofstra with eight rebounds, while
Silas Sunday posted eight points and seven rebounds. Carlos led the Pride with eight assists and three steals.
Spencer Malloy had eight points, three rebounds, and two assists for St. Joseph's (LI). AJ Esposito led the Golden Eagles with nine points.

- The eight three-pointers marked a new career-high for Thomas, who had seven on a pair of occasions, most recently at Rhode Island on December 7, 2021 (for Sacred Heart).
- Hofstra reached 100 points in a season-opener for the first time since defeating Farmingdale State, 102-62, on November 13, 2010.
