Pride Wins Fourth Straight With Rout Of South Florida

Hempstead, NY - Tyler Thomas had 25 points and Darlinston Dubar added 24 points to lead four Hofstra players in double-figures as the Pride posted an 82-63 victory over South Florida Thursday night at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Hofstra led from start to finish to extend its win streak to four games. 

Hofstra improved to 5-2 on the season, while South Florida dropped to 2-3 following its second consecutive loss. 

In addition to his 24 points, Dubar also added 11 rebounds. Thomas had seven three-pointers in the game, Jaquan Carlos added 11 points and 10 assists, while Bryce Washington chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds. 

The Pride led 44-23 at halftime behind 14 points from Dubar and 11 from Thomas. The Pride shot 59 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes and were 8-16 (.500) from three-point range. Hofstra would score the first five points and never look back. Dubar opened the scoring with a layup and Thomas followed with a three-pointer. The Pride would lead by as many as 21 points in the half, the first at 39-18 with 3:02 to play after a Dubar three-pointer.

The second half saw Hofstra extend the lead to 30 points on multiple occasions, the first at 53-23 with 18:19 on the clock following a three-point play from Carlos. After five straight points by the Bulls, Thomas went on an individual 5-0 run to put the Pride back up, 58-28, with 16:30 remaining. The lead would grow to as many as 32, 71-39, with 11:42 to play on another three-pointer from Thomas. South Florida would get as close as 18, 81-63, with 1:38 remaining.

Jayden Reid and Selton Miguel each had 10 points to lead the Bulls. Sam Hines Jr. pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Hofstra will be back in action Wednesday, December 6 at Iona. Game time is 7 p.m. 

Notes:
-Hofstra is 1-3 all-time versus South Florida. 
-Dubar's double-double was his third career and first this season, and his 11 boards were a season-high. 
-Carlos' double-double was his second career and first this season, and his 10 assists were a season-high.
-Thomas has 20 or more points in five consecutive games.
-The Pride shot a season-best 50 percent (15-30) from three-point range.
