Five Named To Academic All-District® Women’s Soccer Team

Hofstra's five CSC Academic All-District Honorees
Hempstead, NY - Five student-athletes from the Hofstra women's soccer team - Mathilde Braithwaite, Millie Davies, Louise Hayden, Aimee Hodgson, and Cailey Welch - were selected to the College Sports Communicators  Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team. The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. 

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
 
Braithwaite, a junior finance major, earns her first Academic All-District honor after a breakthrough season that saw her score two goals and four assists for eight points in 18 games (14 starts). She has excelled academically, boasting a 3.87 grade point average. 

Davies, a sophomore sports management major with a 3.51 grade point average, also had eight points during the 2023 season. The midfielder posted three goals and two assists.

Hayden returns to the  Academic All-District® Team after earning a spot in 2022 as well. The senior defender had one assist while helping to anchor a Hofstra defense that recorded eight shutouts. An exercise science major, Hayden owns a 3.91 grade point average. 

Hodgson turned in an outstanding sophomore season with the midfielder posting four goals and an assist for nine points. In the classroom, she has a 3.95 grade point average as a biochemistry major. 

Welch makes her second consecutive  Academic All-District® Team appearance. The graduate defender started all 18 games and had one assist while helping lead a defensive unit that allowed just 16 goals. A management major, Welch owns a 3.79 grade point average.
