Dubar Drops 30 In Dominant Hofstra Victory

Estero, FL - Darlinstone Dubar had a career-high 30 points and Tyler Thomas added 21 as the Hofstra men's basketball team dominated from start to finish in a 102-68 win over Buffalo on Monday evening at the Gulf Coast Showcase at Hertz Arena.

Dubar had 21 of his points in the opening stanza as he keyed the Pride jumping out to an incredible 59-26 lead at the break. The 30 points marked the first Pride player with 30 or more points in a game since Aaron Estrada had 40 in a win over Elon on January 26, 2023.

The win improves Hofstra's record to 2-2 this season. Buffalo dropped to 1-3 with the loss.

With 102 points in the contest, it marked the second time this season the Pride has crossed the century mark. It is the first time Hofstra has scored 100 or more points against an NCAA Division I school since beating Elon, 102-75, on January 4, 2020.

Buoyed by three-pointers from Jaquan Carlos and Dubar, Hofstra scored the game's first 10 points. The Pride would gradually add to the lead as they turned a 20-11 lead into a 26-11 advantage as Dubar had a traditional three-pointer and an old-fashioned three-point play to give them the 15-point lead. The lead hovered around 15 until Hofstra put together a tremendous 19-0 run to make it 55-22 with 3:03 left in the half following a three-pointer from KiJan Robinson

With the outcome not in doubt, Hofstra would take its largest lead of the game at 79-35 with 14:29 left in regulation following a three-point play from Carlos.

Robinson finished with 13 points in his first collegiate game in his home state. Dubar and Thomas each added a team-best five assists, while Jacco Fritz pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and added seven points and three assists.

Hofstra will take on Wright State on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in day two action at the Gulf Coast Showcase.
