Hofstra Blanked at Bryant

Smithfield, RI - The Hofstra field hockey team suffered a 2-0 shutout loss to Bryant in road non-conference action on a blustery Sunday afternoon from Bryant Field Hockey Complex. Hofstra's overall record dips to 5-11, while Bryant improves to 6-9.

Following a scoreless opening quarter, Bryant broke the deadlock four minutes into the second off a shot from Taryn Rauff. Hofstra totaled four shots in the second half, but none of them went past Bryant's netminder Dieneke Hes. The Bulldogs secured their win with fourth quarter goal by Natalie Griffin on a penalty corner opportunity.

Hella Vorpagel recorded six saves in her sixth start of the season. Adrianna Losiak led Hofstra with two total shots, while she, Jaime Lewis, and Silvia Vetter all finished with one shot on goal. Jamie Mc Millan made an impact on the defensive end with two defensive saves.

Hes earned the win with three saves. Olivia Clarke, Brittany Gouws, and Emma Rothkopf all tallied assists for the Bulldogs.

Hofstra concludes its CAA schedule on Friday, October 27, with a trip to Monmouth. Opening whistle is scheduled for 4 p.m.

NOTES:
-Hofstra's all-time record against Bryant is now 3-2.
-Bryant limited Hofstra to five penalty corners, while earning 10.
