No. 18 Hofstra Tripped Up At Delaware

Newark, DE - Delaware's TJ Hastings scored in the 65th minute to snap a 1-1 tie as the Blue Hens picked up a 2-1 Coastal Athletic Association victory over No. 18 Hofstra Saturday night at Grant Stadium. The loss was Hofstra's first since August 28 and snapped a 12-game unbeaten streak for the Pride.

Hofstra slipped to 9-2-4 overall and 3-1-2 in league play. Delaware improved to 8-2-4 overall and 2-2-2 in CAA action.

The teams played a scoreless first half. The Pride had four shots in the opening 45 minutes, while Delaware had three. Each team had one shot on goal. 

The Blue Hens started the second half string, scoring 1:14 in on a goal from Richard Monath. Hofstra would equalize at 55:34 as Pierce Infuso headed in a corner kick from Eliot Goldthorp. But, less than 10 minutes later, Hastings would convert a pass from Jan Schroeder for what proved to be the game-winner at 64:08. 

Adam Vik made four saves for Delaware, while Wessel Speel stopped four shots for the Pride.

Hofstra returns to action Tuesday night at No. 24 New Hampshire. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra is 23-13-2 all-time against Delaware.
-Infuso's goal was his first of the season.
-Goldthorp has a team-high eight assists.
-Hofstra is 5-2 in one-goal games this season.
