No. 18 Hofstra Plays To 1-1 Draw At Fordham

Bronx, NY - Eliot Goldthorp scored on a penalty kick in the second half to tie the game at one as No. 18 Hofstra and Fordham played to a 1-1 draw at Moglia Stadium at Jack Coffey Field Tuesday night. The draw extended Hofstra's unbeaten streak to 12 games. 

The Pride's record stands at 9-1-4 overall following the draw. Hofstra is 8-0-4 in its last 12 contests. Fordham is now 6-2-4 on the season. 

The Rams scored 5:08 into the game as Louis Lehr sent in a shot off a corner kick with Nathan SImes and Shizu Yohana getting the assists. The goal was just the third first-half goal allowed by the Pride this season. 

Hofstra scored the equalizer 11 minutes into the second half after the Rams were whistled for a handball in the penalty area. Goldthorp sent the penalty kick into the upper right corner for his seventh goal of the season and second from the spot. 

Goalkeeper Wessel Speel made four saves on the night, including three in the second half. Fordham keeper Carter Abbott stopped six shots.

Hofstra returns to action Saturday at Delaware. Kickoff in Newark is set for 7 p.m.

-Hofstra is 12-5-4 all-time against Fordham.
-Goldthorp scored for the second consecutive game.
-Hofstra has scored 17 of its 23 goals this season in the second half.
-The Pride held a 16-11 advantage in shots.
