Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team has a huge opportunity and huge test on Saturday when the Pride travels to take on #18 Charleston in a key Colonial Athletic Association contest.
Tip-off from TD Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The game will air on FloHoops and WRHU (88.7 FM) will have an audio-only broadcast available on the HAWC. Links to both broadcasts, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
This will be Hofstra's second game this season against a ranked opponent as the Pride previously faced #4 Purdue back on December 7.
The Pride will be looking for its third-ever win over an Associated Press Top 25 team and it would mark the second consecutive season as well. Hofstra's previous AP Top 25 wins were on December 18, 2021 (89-81 over #24 Arkansas) and December 11, 1976 (67-66 over #18 Southern Illinois).
Hofstra earned its second consecutive win and sixth victory in its last seven contests with an 82-65 win over Elon on Thursday. The duo of
Aaron Estrada and
Tyler Thomas was incredible as Estrada poured in a career-best 40 points, while Thomas added 23.
Jaquan Carlos dished out nine assists for the Pride.
Charleston is currently 21-1 overall and has won 20 consecutive games. The Cougars lone loss this season was a 102-86 loss at then-#1 North Carolina back on November 11. They are 9-0 in CAA play with their last win being an 87-61 victory over Northeastern on January 21.
Saturday is the 18th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Charleston with the Pride leading the way, 9-8. The series began when the Cougars joined the CAA in 2013-14. Hofstra won two of the three meetings a season ago with the Pride capturing both regular season contests before the Cougars earned the win in the CAA Championship. Hofstra has won three of the last four and five of the last seven meetings between the teams.
