Beatriz Alves totaled 30 assists, a career-high tying seven kills, and six digs but the Hofstra volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Portland on Friday afternoon at the Denver Invitational.
Hofstra fell to 2-4 with the loss, while Portland improved to 4-1. Set scores were 19-25, 25-19, 17-25, and 13-25.
Freshman
Clara Bal led Hofstra with 12 kills in the match, while junior
Yagmur Cinel was also in double figures with 10 kills.
Jayde Harris posted 13 kills and eight digs for the Pilots and Noelani Helm added 23 assists, 10 digs, and nine kills.
Hofstra concludes play at the Denver Invitational on Saturday when it faces the host Pioneers at 6 p.m. local time.
NOTES
- Hofstra is now 1-3 all-time against Portland. It was the first meeting between the teams since 1994.
- It marked the third time that Alves had seven kills in a match and the first time since a road match against Delaware on October 2, 2021.
- Cinel's 10 kills tied her season-high for a match.
